Review By Peter Babb
Philly-based producer SUPREMEeX's Kubrik-like view of the future of
technology comes to life on this exceptionally realized concept EP.
Combining music, storyline and graphic art (the cover and included trading
cards are sick) to a single effect, PROJECTO : 2501 follows the plot
of The Entity -- a holographic computer that comes alive a' la HAL-9000--in
its attempts to overthrow humanity.
In terms of execution,
PROJECTO : 2501 is a veritable blueprint of how to make a hip-hop concept
album. Everything works together wonderfully, from the uneasy atmosphere
of the beats and slashing rhymes of Souls of Mischief's Tajai (as The
Entity) to the dialogue samples and graphics. S.eX and Tajai, along
with aural and visual assists from Shing02 and Colm, have succeeded
in creating a truly immersive and enjoyable world.
